Bori Moon
Bori Moon (b. 1976, South Korea) is a Korean contemporary artist whose practice explores the connections between time, memory, and human relationships through textile-based works. She received her BFA and MFA in Textile Art from Hongik University, Seoul, and later studied Textile Design at at Philadelphia University (now Thomas Jefferson University), USA. She currently lectures in the Department of Textile Art and Fashion Design at Hongik University, Seoul.
Working with traditional Korean materials such as ramie and hemp threads, she transforms the act of weaving into a meditative process that reveals invisible layers of connection between nature, history, and personal experience. By combining traditional textile techniques with contemporary approaches, Moon Bori expands the boundaries of fiber art, creating delicate yet profound compositions where material, light, and time become intertwined. Her works reflect the accumulation of moments and memories, bridging traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary visual language.
Moon's work has been exhibited internationally, including at Design Miami 2025, and featured in major craft and contemporary art platforms in Korea such as the Craft Trend Fair and Cheongju Craft Biennale. She has received recognition through the Lexus Creative Masters Award (2024), the Craft Trend Fair Outstanding Artist Award (2023), and multiple cultural and artistic support programs. Her works are included in the collections of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea – Government Art Bank and the Wooran Foundation.
