Sangha Yoon
My canvas is a messy tapestry of consciousness, a playful space that mirrors the absurdities of obsession and fantasy.
- Sangha Yoon
Sangha Yoon (b. 1995) is a Korean artist whose practice explores the shifting boundaries between perception and imagination. Through the repeated layering of brushstrokes and a refined use of color, Sangha creates contemplative scenes that draw on memory, fantasy, and the emotional currents of contemporary life. His paintings often feature vivid, childlike figures set against rough, furrowed surfaces—a striking contrast that heightens the tension between innocence and reality. The interplay of luminous imagery and distressed textures evokes a quiet sense of disillusionment, revealing a fragile balance between wonder and lived experience.
His work has been exhibited across Asia and Europe, including at Art Busan (2024), Art Jakarta (2024), Moosey Art in London (2024), Gwangju Media Art Platform (2024), Platform-L Contemporary Art Center in Seoul (2022), and the Asia Culture Center in Gwangju (2021), among others. His paintings are held in major public collections such as the Seoul Museum of Art, the Gwangju Museum of Art, and the Chosun University Museum of Art.
He holds a BA in Contemporary Plastic Media from Chosun University and was a resident artist at the Gwangju Museum of Art’s Young Artist Center. He lives and works between Seoul and Gwangju, South Korea.
