Graduation Show 2025: Choi Wong | KABK, The Hague
FORTHCOMING viewing_room
Choi Wong (b. 1981, Hong Kong) is a visual artist based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She holds a BA in Graphic Design from HKU University of the Arts Utrecht (2008) and recently completed an MA in Artistic Research at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK), The Hague (2025).
Wong’s practice centers on the dynamics of human relationships - how people connect, depend, and distance themselves from one another. Her work unfolds as an ongoing process, with each piece marking a step in this exploration. Drawing from found photography, she reconstructs fragmented memories through thread, binding and unraveling images into new visual configurations. Her tactile, process-based approach creates spaces where trust, vulnerability, and emotional memory co-exist. In recent years, she has expanded her process to include Toyobo photopolymer etching, a subtle and detailed technique that allows her to delve deeper into the material and emotional textures of the image.
Wong’s work has been presented in exhibitions such as ZomerExpo at the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag (2015), Delusional: Open Call at Jonathan LeVine Projects (USA, 2017), Copy/Paste at Projectspace Lokaal (Utrecht, 2021), and De Rilling van de Duur at Villa de Bank (Enschede, 2024). She was shortlisted for the 2024 Director’s Cut at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair and received a project grant from the Mondriaan Fonds in 2019. In 2019, she held a residency at Productiehuis Plaatsmaken (Arnhem), which also hosted her solo exhibition Caught in a View.
